We have just finished reading Isaac Asimov's "The Fun They Had". In this science fiction short story, the main characters, living in 2157, discover what school used to be like. Think about school today. Answer one of the following questions.
What are the advantages of using computers in school? What are the advantages of employing human teachers? What are the disadvantages of a setting such as Margie's school?
The advantages of using computers in school are that you don’t have to write everything down on notebook paper, you can type and print it out! The other advantages are like instead of taking paper tests, you take it on the computer.

ReplyDeleteThe advantages of using computers in school are that it doesn’t take as long as it does when you are looking up something in a book, because if you are looking for a definition in the dictionary it takes awhile to find it, but if you go on the computer then all you have to do is type it in to the computer and it will pop up unlike it would if you where looking in a book.

Also if you have a mechanical teacher make sure you don’t need to keep going in the classroom to fix her battery or get to today’s lesson plan on the screen! That’s why I love the way our school is today.
ReplyDeleteThe advantages of using a computer at school is that you get to have chance to do what you think of and not have a mechanical teacher telling you what to do and what not to do .If the teacher tells you that you can play on the computer than you can but your not able to if you have a mechanical teacher. You will get to have the fun that you have always wanted. You can not have the fun that you want if you have a mechanical teacher because you’re not able to play on the robot mechanical teacher.

The advantage of having a robot as a teacher are that they know every answer to every question.the advantage of having a real teacher is that they can make you laugh when your feeling down . the disavantage from the educational setting of Margie's point of view is that you have no friends to talk to.

Because it is better for a human to teach because teachers sometimes learn something even when there the teacher. And robots however can’t learn anything because there just a bunch of different pieces of metal and bolts.

Margie's school has disadvantages such as having a robot for a teacher. The robot could teach to fast or have a glitch and teach you completely wrong or go out of control.

And never leave a robot a lone. The educational was bad. And the robot teacher made Margie go crazy. Margie couldn’t thing or write right. Because the robot teacher was going to fat at everything. And that is the disadvantages of Margie’s school
ReplyDeleteThey do have the right to have a real teacher not a robot teacher. A real teacher is better for kids. A robot doesn’t help it give student all the same lesson and it can mess up easy and it is crazy. It is a mechanical robot that can’t help you on your work.

You can also look for answers quickly if you have a question. And you can see things that you’ve never seen before which is really cool because you can look at it without ever leaving the place that you’re at. You would also be going green by using a computer because you’re not using paper which is good for the environment.

Her teacher is a robot so it has no feelings and it can’t help her sometimes the robot even grades her papers wrong. But the thing I wouldn’t like the most would she has to have school all by herself so she can’t meet new friends.
